Dabolim Airport to North Goa: Planning Your Taxi Transfer

North Goa is the busier half of the coast, with Calangute, Baga, Candolim, Anjuna and Vagator drawing large numbers of visitors every season. If your flight lands at Dabolim, your hotel in the north is at the other end of a cross-state drive. A little planning makes it easy.

Dabolim or Mopa?

North Goa now has its own airport, Manohar International Airport at Mopa (GOX). Many flights still use Dabolim (GOI) in the south. Check the airport code on your ticket. This guide is for travellers landing at Dabolim and staying in the north.

The route north

From Dabolim, the road runs north and crosses the Zuari river, passes Panaji, the state capital, and then crosses the Mandovi river into the Bardez area where most of North Goa’s beach hotels are. Beyond Bardez is Pernem, home to quieter beaches like Morjim, Ashwem, Mandrem and Arambol.

Traffic is usually heaviest around Panaji and the beach strip of Calangute and Baga at busy times. That matters most on the way back to the airport.

Choosing where to stay

  • Candolim. Near Fort Aguada, with many resorts and a calmer feel than Calangute.
  • Calangute. The busy centre, with shopping, restaurants and water sports.
  • Baga. Nightlife, Tito’s Lane and Baga creek.
  • Anjuna and Vagator. Cliffs, cafes and the flea market.
  • Morjim to Arambol. Quieter beaches further north.
  • Panaji. If you prefer a city base with easy access to both north and south.

Planning your arrival transfer

  1. Send your flight number, arrival time, passenger count and luggage.
  2. Give the exact hotel name and village, with a map pin for villas.
  3. Ask for the fare and vehicle.
  4. Confirm directly, and keep the confirmation handy on arrival.

For late arrivals, pre-booking is especially helpful, because you will have a long drive ahead and a car already waiting.

Timing your return to the airport

This is the most important part. The drive from North Goa to Dabolim takes longer than most travellers expect, and traffic can add to it. Book your return transfer when you book your arrival, or at least a few days before you leave, and allow generous time before check-in closes. We suggest a pickup time based on your hotel and flight.

Breaking the journey

Arriving in daylight? Consider a stop at Old Goa to see the Basilica of Bom Jesus and the Se Cathedral, or lunch in Panaji. Tell us when you book so the fare includes the stop.
