What to Consider When Booking an Airport Taxi in Goa

Booking an airport taxi in Goa is simple, but a few minutes of checking before you confirm can save a lot of hassle on arrival. Here is what to look at, whichever operator you choose.

1. Which airport?

Goa has two airports: Dabolim (GOI) near Vasco da Gama and Mopa (GOX) in the far north. Confirm the airport with your taxi operator. It sounds obvious, but it is one of the most common mix-ups.

2. What the fare includes

Ask for the total fare for your journey and check:

  • Is it per vehicle or per person? (Taxi fares are usually per vehicle.)
  • Are tolls and parking included?
  • Is there a different rate for late-night pickups?
  • Are stops on the way included?

Get the agreed fare in writing, for example in a WhatsApp message.

3. The right vehicle

Count passengers and bags honestly. A car that seats five may not carry five people’s suitcases. If you have a pram, golf bags or surfboards, say so. Larger families and groups often travel more comfortably in an MPV or SUV, or in two cars.

4. Pickup point and how to find the driver

Ask exactly where the driver will meet you and how you will identify them. Save the driver’s or operator’s number in your phone before you fly.

5. Waiting time and flight delays

Flights run late, and baggage can take time. Ask how long the driver will wait after landing and what happens if your flight is significantly delayed. Share your flight number so the operator can plan.

6. Cancellation and changes

Plans change. Ask how to cancel or change your booking and whether any charge applies. The answer should be clear before you confirm.

7. Direct contact

Being able to reach the operator directly, on a number that answers, is valuable when you land late or something changes. Check that you have a working phone or WhatsApp contact.

8. Licensed tourist vehicles

In Goa, commercial tourist taxis carry yellow number plates. It is reasonable to expect your airport taxi to be a properly registered commercial vehicle.

9. Your return trip

Book the airport drop at the same time, or early in your stay. Allow plenty of time, especially from North Goa or Canacona.
